Gearbox Sump Pan

Post by GTI-C5RS6 » Thu Sep 12, 2024 11:27 am

Can anyone help me with where to buy a new gearbox sump pan for my C5 RS6. My gearbox went into limp mode, checked underneath and looks like the sump has taken a knock and is leaking. I'm hoping a new sump and refill of fluid will resolve my issue.

I was told that as the gearbox is "sealed for life", the service kit comes with a new sump, but from the photos it looks like this is just a filter. Is that correct?

thanks in advance

Service kit is a new filter, but these boxes, the filter is seperate to the sump.

The sump part number is 01L321359C. There are enough cars being broken on Ebay and faceache, some probably due to the made of cheese gearbox. Shouldnt be too hard to get a sump

Be careful that you get the right filter. The RS6 one has a shorter pickup pipe. If you get the wrong one it will touch the sump and prevent free ingress of ATF causing much woe.

Thanks guys, I've messaged a few of breakers on ebay/Facebook, seems most are only sold with the gearbox. If anyone hears of/has one going I would be very grateful!

Thanks for suggestions guys. If anyone needs one of these, I ended up having to buy a new sump. Found one from a company called Vanmatic. Looks to be direct from ZF, no Audi part numbers or stamps on the pan but was all I could find!

https://www.vanmatic.com/parts/hp/zf5hp ... --56-hp-82

All fitted now and appears to have sorted my problem, back to running sweet (touch wood). I was worried I needed another gearbox rebuild after only 25k miles since the last one in 2014. I’m no expert, but for anyone with an incorrect gear ratio fault code 17119 on Vagcom, it’s worth checking transmission fluid level.

Link saved just in case!

Also the F125 transmission range switch is a consumable by the look of it and often the cause of any weird behaviour that a gearbox service doesn't sort out.
