Hi Everyone,

Only just discovered my passenger front footwell is damp to the touch.... under the mat!

Read a few older posts stating to clear out the 3 drainage areas under the windscreen scuttle.

One comment said to remove the bungs? Im new to the RS6 and don't know the procedure to avoid interior dampness. Funny thing was I noticed inside window condensation and didnt click on to why....

IF I'm looking in the right area of the scuttle.... I noticed dirt down either corner (by bonnet hinges) Can I and should I remove scuttle for a thorough clean etc?

If someone knows the sequence of what to do please let me know.

I also noticed on a RS6 YouTube video that there scuttle on the windscreen had a rubber seal/edge to it..... (Mine does'nt) both a screenshot of the video and a picture of mine below.

What seal can I get? Any suggestions.
Is this why I'm getting damp inside? Mine is away from the windscreen a little bit.

Any help always appreciated.

Shouldn’t have the gap. There is a lip on the windscreen water deflector that fits under the screen.
Mine broke when I had a new windscreen installed. So I had to get a new one from Audi main dealer. Cost was about £100 IIRC.
They are very fragile and need to be handled with care.

If your passenger carpet is wet through. Then I would pull the carpet up and check the CCM for being wet and if necessary dry it out.
Also check around the air filter for being wet which is located under the scuttle on the right hand side at the rear of the engine.
Remove the scuttle to do this.

Check that the drains are clear. I use a air line to do this. And while the scuttle is off. I use the air line to blow out any crap that has gathered.
Some members have removed the rubber plugs. There is a how to thread on here. Although I haven’t removed mine as yet.

As far as I can tell these are usual issues with most C5 RS6's! Love the car .... I guess it is 19 years old.... I'll get all the niggles sorted.

Unintentionally did a water test on mine.
Torrential rain all night and this morning. Raining so hard it kept me awake all night.
Pleased to advise that the car interior was all dry.

May I ask a question regarding the bung underneath the coolant tank.

Where does this go to if bungs removed??

I haven’t removed the bungs on my car.

As a guess I would think any water would run to the ground if the bungs are removed.

I had the same problem, I had done all the things mentioned above but still the carpet was wet, turned out to be the foam gasket that was under the pollen filter housing, very poor design.New seal and problem solved.
I took out the full interior and got one of those small flexible cameras and followed the water ingress to that point.
Take the filter out, take the housing out..think it was only 2 bolts and you should see the foam gasket.

There is also a hidden nut at the rear of the filter housing which is a bitch to remove.
I was lucky I replaced my housing and seal while the windscreen was out.

Gav. I don’t get the foam seal comment.
My original seal was rubber.
The new replacement seal which came with the new housing was also rubber.

Mine was definitely made of some kind of foam, mind you it basically disintegrated when I removed the housing.

I had the foam pollen seal that was dust issue as well.

Yes it is a type of foam.
For some reason I convinced myself that it was rubber.
