I hear you, and some of them do look smart. However, I honestly don't think there's a day to day need (for me, at least) for all the detail you can get out of these. Sometimes boost is useful as an early heads up if something is in distress - but the rest of it I would immediately want logged via VCDS anyway.

However, snake FTW.

I'm half way through building a raspberry pi with a 4 inch touch screen too fit into an air vent , that when I figure it all out should display what I need and more , also little touches like being able too have programmed buttons on the display for ic fans , exhaust cut outs . Oh and I take your snake and raise it too pacman built in

Interesting...
I've also got a little project going on for my RS4.
Using an arduino/ESP to get values wirelessly via the obd port and show them on the top 2 lines of the dis where the music info. normally is.
A few little tweaks with it and I'll be happy.

I have a couple of arduinos which I may end up using for the inputs from the harness for the sensors then over too the pi . I've not done much on mine for a while but need to pick the project up again at some point .
Matt , I do like the dis upgrade , that was what kicked the while project off for me i think . They seem to be a fairly easy install to . As you say just for a boost reference at a glance its ideal for the job .

Does anyone know the difference between FIS full and FIS light? Light is cheaper, but can't find anything that explains the difference.

If he’d released it 10 years ago he would have made a killing.

From what I can tell, it looks like FIS full can have additional external sensors plugged into it and shown on the display.
Not sure if there's any other differences.

For anyone doing arduino style hacking, look at the 'teensy' boards, they do a neat one (v3.2 I think) with dual can channels on it. This is very useful for taking one can stream in altering it and spitting out another modified network to a device. Signal to your dash in, then remove the CAN error messages and send that data out on the other can network to your dash (no MOT concerning warning lights)

It's a neater solution than an arduino and CAN shield IMHO.

Maybe there is a better thread to bring back?

I'm thinking to install the FIS control unit.

All I'm really after is boost info and the current gear (at all times, including auto/sport mode)

I like the face the OEM display is used. There are some fancy colour displays but I think that detracts from the OEM look.

Does anyone know if it's feasible to somehow get the FIS display to just show the current gear? In a large format? Like the whole display?

I think this looks great:

This is exactly what I've been after! My dis is going pixalated now anyway so was going to replace but this seems much better!
Have you managed to find anymore information that's in english?

Cheers

Hmm. If there were a group buy of FIS Control, I could maybe be tempted, so I can sneak out to the garage and play snake in the car sometimes for a bit of peace and quiet.
