Window issue

When I bought the car I bought it with an issue with the drivers window. It was apparently sticky and would go a little way up and then go back down again.
I found this only to happen when the window was opened a little bit, if the window was wound most of the way down, it would roll right back up again with no issues.....
Until today.....
Wound all the way up and then I heard a crack ! Wound it back down just a fraction maybe a couple of inches and it won't go back up again. I have managed to wedge the window up and it appears to be staying.
Can anyone tell me what part I am likely to need without me stripping it all down first ?
My puddle light on the drivers side ha never worked either so it would make sense to sort that also, which I believe is the lock mechanism ?
Any advice is appreciated as always.
Oh and if anyone wants to give me a loan, it would be very welcome !" Bought the car in January and have spent nearly £4k on it until now, and the TC is knackered also. Stupid ass car, shoulda bought something else

Jeez, I thought I had it bad spending half that in the same time!
Sorry, can't help with the window but have the same puddle light issue which I was told is the lock mechanism.

Sounds like the window regulator has snapped. No biggy. ECP might have them.

The first year is always the worst. You are fixing things the previous owner was ignoring and you have all the things that were about to break to fail as well!
https://www.amazon.co.uk/RegulatorFix-A ... B00BT1GQCU - These the right ones? If so I'm going to get a set as well to ensure mine never breaks...

Those break often so worth having a set. However, in this case it sounds like the regulator itself has broken. You'll need to open it up to have a look. I've had this on a Golf. You need to change the whole gubbins.

I'd get a Valeo one. You can get much cheaper on eBay, but given the faff of getting the window out, I wouldn't want to do it twice.
/Also, change the door lock while you're at it. If you're handy you might be able to replace just the microswitch that has failed.

This for sure. I'd happily get in mine and drive it 10k straight up, and I'd be confident it would need nothing more than routine servicing.

Yep, be sure to get a quality regulator kit and not the cheapest one because I can tell you from experience it’s a bitch. Expect to pay £30 aftermarket and about £90 OEM. It’s a pain in the ass to fit compared to most others due to a metal plate in the way and unless someone else knows a method the upper part of the door needs removed, job for under a roof in the dry.

Fortunately the upper door is easy. Looks a pain in the neck, but not too bad at all. And it's generic A6, not RS6, so easy parts

Yeah. Go OEM on the lock. More ££ but you'll only to replace it the once.

If you have dual pain glass you will have to get it from Audi / TPS as after market don't seen to do the regulator for dual pain. If memory serves me you will need a few rivets as well.

Nope, just single pain glass, so I guess lucky on that front

I had pain on the mind as I'm currently off work with a fractured ankle. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it
