Tips for removing A-pillar trim?

Post by shadyraven » Sun Apr 03, 2016 10:15 pm

Hi, does anyone have any tips for removing the A-Pillar trim? Curious if it has to be lifted/prided off in a certain way?

I wasn't feeling too good with that tutorial when I read it over a week ago. Pictures don't match the RS6 interior, fixtures are off and the pull tab access for the wire does not appear when the handle is removed.

Right just removed all of my pillar trims .

A pillar removal , pop out the air bag warning rectangle. Behind that is a 20 torx . Pull the grab handle down to reveal the two caps . Pop thesee out , they are hinged and will swing up towards the headlining . Under there is two 25 torx . Remove there along with the handle . Gently pull the pillar trim working from the back towards the windscreen. There is several metal clips that will pop off. Once down almost to screen slide the trim up as it's located into the dash . Don't worry if any of the metal clips are left behind in the pillar . Use a pair of pliers and pop them out and relocate them on the trim . Took me about 5 mins per side . Just be mindful of the curtain airbags that runs under this trim from almost the entire length of of the car . So don't go jabbing screwdrivers up behind the trims .

Good summary - sounds more straightforward than the how-to samples featuring the A6 C5 interior featuring the wire pull tab. Thanks for confirming the A pillar for RS6 C5 is not the same. To future readers, ignore the suggested link shown above.

Yeah there very straight forward. I'll be stripping the rest of the body for a repaint so if anyone wants any information of stripping other body parts, doors , bumpers ect let me know and I'll see if I can put together big Ted's guide .
