Thanks Tony,
Looks like you are having a good time away. Hope the car is going well.
We are down the coast this coming weekend. Going down to watch Bathurst with dad. One of the only car races he enjoys. Not as good as 20 years ago but still entraining. Always enjoy the top 10 shoot out.
Will talk next week.

Any of you guys OS watch the great race? I think it's televised in most countries these days.

I'll be watching too albeit not a big fan of the current cars. Group A was better than them. Enjoy and yes, the car is going just fine. Seems I've been kissed by the fairy.

Great to hear the car is all good.
Yes the group A was the best racing by far.

Hooked up the battery and went for a drive. No issues no MIL. Been taking notes and the common thing is it's all good unless I access the ECU (01) directly using VCDS.
Then all goes to <beep>. I might just drive it for the week and see how everything goes.
Been driving it to work this week and no issues. It's going really well and very smooth. No ABS fault so far. Last week I disconnected the battery and left it overnight. Did an auto scan and cleared all faults the next morning.
Mainly faults from the battery disconnected.
Run an auto scan today after a few drives and only got a couple of the normal faults I get like radio and alarm horn. Nothing else. I will see what happens over the next few weeks. It's running better than before I did the cam belt so must of got that part right. Put new MAFs in as well as fixing some of the wiring.

Yes! After a battery disconnect & reconnect, always then scan and clear all the faults - just ignore them all.
Then see what reappears again.

A few weeks with no problem until today. Left the coffee Shop after lunch, got just down the road and there it is again. ABS fault. Same fault. Return pump. I think I will check the pump motor first. I have one so I will pull it apart check the brushes, give it a clean and fit it.
Got to start somewhere.

Mmm. Fairly unambiguous fault code. It'll either be the motor, the contacts with the controller PCB or the tiny wires on the controller PCB. I fear the most likely is the last one, but you have to eliminate the others.

I suppose if anyone is going to have a go at repairing a PCB, Greg is the right guy.

Yeah. It can be done. I had a go at one and it worked for a while. So if I can do it, pretty sure an experienced PCB fetishist will do a better job.

My father was expert at all that type of thing. PCB & Circuit design was one of his hobbies - he even mentioned it in his notes for his eulogy!

I've been looking at this company for an ECU repair on my Volvo. I hear good things about them and they also do the Bosch 5.7 repairs.

https://xemodex.com/us/product/audi-ant ... -7-repair/

Amongst the common symptoms they list is the ABS pump.

Thanks Shop,
Been doing some work around the house for the hugs and kisses. Need to stay in the good books so I can spend more on toys.
As soon as I get a chance I will take the ABS unit off and take it into work and X-ray it. Should be able to see if any of the little wires have let go.
