....So, the bearings in the diff are not provided for changing in the garage.

They have to be specially calibrated in the housing, an this is only possible with tools and adjustment values that only have ZF. Not even Audi themselves can change these bearings!

Ive contacted somebody working at ZF, and he said there was never a damage at the diff bearings as long as he remembers. (When he started working there, the 5HP24 was not even started built.)

So all parts are going back in this or next week.
Trouble is, now its on one jack at the right front, i cant get the oil level in the front driveshaft compartment from the gearbox right cos its not 100% horizontal.
When i fill it in the position the car is in now, there will be going more oil in then recommended, and i cant see how to fill it when its back on its wheels again (100 % horizontal).
Would this cause damage? Prob best thing to do is get it on a ramp and get the oil level right.

Would be funny, now theres fresh grease in the inner cv joint, the clunking is gone :D (cos the old grease was like grey/green yoghurt...)

Empty it, measure 1330ml and inject that quantity.

Or you could run a long plastic tube to the fill hole, put the car back on the ground then inject the diff oil with a syringe. You have to do it slowly anyway so that it can settle behind the baffles.

Momentary confusion with the centre diff. Corrected it now.

...have to jack the car up after that and take the wheel off, cos i dont know if its possible to get the filling hole closed properly when on the ground...

...and think i buy a new seal (flange axle hole...) to be sure.

Sure, that goes without saying. No biggy though.

Definitely put a new seal in it.

i know the oil has to be 75W90 (think preferably full synthetic), but does it need some particular specs for diff oil?

Nah, any good 75w90 will do. Motul 300v is my choice, but anything of similar quality will be fine. There's talk of a friction modifier in the torsen centre diff, but only after a rebuild
