Leak
Re: Leak
How hard is it to remove the water deflector? My 6 isn't going anywhere as I'm replacing the ps pump, secondary fan and sealing up some IC leaks. So I may as well yank the deflector off and measure the windscreen as installed. I'd love to get to the bottom of these odd windscreen fitments.
Re: Leak
Yeah, I would be concerned, too. I have had a couple of bad experiences with dealers recently not fitting the OE tyres. Mitsubishi put some crappy yokos on instead of the OE Toyo and VW almost put some Hancooks on my Passat last week.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 8:24 amA bit concerned with Audi telling me the new screen would take 4-5 weeks delivery.
Then it arrives in 5 days.

As for your screen, I suspect dealers have 3 lead time levels: In stock, next day, special order and they probably just have you the worst case special order lead time.
I'd be very susprised if an Audi dealer decided to provide a spurious screen, but I find it odd that they offered a mobile fitter.

Re: Leak
Just did a long reply to landers query removing the deflector. Submitted it twice.
Then it has disappeared / not loaded
Done this a few times to me recently.
Anyone else had a problem.

Ben. I use my mobile phone. Google. Then select the RS246.com forum.
Re: Leak
You could try the tapatalk app. I have never used it so I don't know if it's any good. Try updating your phone. Maybe your OS is old. You could try a different browser on your phone.

Hi Ben. No my os is the latest version. Only happens now and again. So I guess I will have to live with it.
Bit of a pain though When you have provided a long reply.
I did notice I submitted my reply at the same time you had responded.
Just wondering is there was a conflict with multi responses at the same time.

I hate android phones. I also hate iPhones. I find the iPhone a lesser evil.

I had been using a iPhone 5 for donkeys years.
Switched to a iPhone 10 about 6 months ago and I love it.

Re: Leak
Depends on how the dealer runs aftersales, pretty much bugger all margin in the labour to fit, real money is in the glass, therefore not too many service managers like to have workshop space and a productive tech handling windscreen replacement (no upsell/wallet flush). Not when they could be smashing through a retail service or warranty job. Though, that being said, some dealers do fit glass onsite, especially if parts and service share a sub dept e.g. glass, tyres & alignment, using less costly staff. This way they share cost and also profit (essential going forward with low $ per job on EV vehicles)steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 9:14 amShopp I was very surprised that Audi sub out windscreen fitting.

Re: Leak
I am wondering if it’s the water deflector thats too short. It was supplied by my local AMD.
Or is it the windscreen that’s too short.
Would love to get to the bottom of this.
With my original screen and deflector. I never had a gap at each end.

Re: Leak
I reckon it's the deflector seal. IIRC the deflector on the screen I measured looked like it was too long for the bottom edge i.e had an allowance for trimming.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 03, 2021 1:26 pmI am wondering if it’s the water deflector thats too short. It was supplied by my local AMD.
