If you have a solar windscreen you will have to put it under the bonnet or it won't work very well as i found out.

OK - many thanks to Marv8 for sending me a spare RNSE puck - but as Shop suggested below it has a different connector on it.

I am loathe to start trying to cut and splice cables etc - rather suspect the loss of screening etc would rapidly undermine the perfornmance, so still on the lookout for a replacement roof puck - hopefully that should be "Plug n Play!"

Dave, what's wrong with the part from Audi? Too expensive?

Why not get a sma puck on stick it on top of the glove box?

Hi guys - sorry to resurrect an old thread - but this one is driving me nuts!

Asked MRC to swap the roof puck from my old car (now gone BTW) but when they got in there they found that the old car had three wires from the antenna assembly. On the new car however there were only two wires to be found!! The checked under the roof lining, down the back pillars etc - no where!!

So - Shopp - have you got a wiring diagramme which shows what wires there should be - and where they go?? It looks like someone has pulled one out.... Why???!!!

Can't you just get a puck and stick it under the dash or bumper like shopp?

Yes - dare say I could - but I want to find the missing cable first and see if just plugging it in solves the problem!

Don't think the etka pic shows where the cables go. Sure shopp has posted it before

Hi Dave, it looks like there can be 2 or 3 wires depending on whether the car has mobile phone prep option or not. All the Avant antennas have 3 wires coming out, but on the car side there may be only 2. Have you compared the option codes?

Either way, the GPS antenna wire will be there.

Bother - MRC fail!!

Yes, old car had phone prep, and this one doesn't! That explains the missing cable, and that was the reason that they didn't swap them over. Now the old car has gone, and I still have the problem.

I guess the assembly will be the same on any A6 (C5) Avant?? Maybe a trip to my local scrappie....

Don't bother talking to the guys who have your old car, they are on cloud cuckoo land price wise

Now I'm getting really confused!!

Decided that maybe a dash mounted puck was the answer so took a look on eBay etc. All the searches seem to suggest that the connector is a SMB (female) connector. In fact someone very kindly sent me a puck with this connector on already and I found it didn't fit

Problem is - my connector isn't SMB - It's something like a Wiclic (male) on the lead, and a female end on the back of the unit.

Did they make two different versions of the RNSD?? Could it have been "repaired" with a different connector?? The odd thing is that the aerial lead is all neatly bound into the harness etc and doesn't look like it's been messed with??

And suppose I just cut and spliced the cable - any reason why that shouldn't work??

There are 2 GPS sockets on the RNS-D. Not sure what the other one is.
