Re: Disaster!
Hi Guys
Well, I'm still not sure how all this is going to turn out.
So far we have established that the engine runs, but water has really fouled up all the gearbox electronics (bits of melted plastic etc!). Until they can get the box to work, they can't run the engine under load, which ,means we can't be sure if the engine is really OK, which means that the insurers still can't decide if its repairable or a write-off......
I'm keeping everything crossed that I'll be back - and Doug is weaving all his magic.....

Re: Disaster!
Slowly but surely the Beast is stirring....
New Gearbox ECU, and the box stopped flashing all the warnings...
Full WOT run on the Dyno and she's showing 505 (it seems just three horses have drowned!)
Now all we need is for the Insurance company to say they'll pay the bill
Then it's down to Doug and his boys to put it all together so I can start to play once more!
I'll be back!

Re: Disaster!
Your insurance should be no problem...they'll be delighted their not having to stump up for a total write off...best possible outcome for both parties you get a new gearbox and effectively a complete overhaul of the mechanics and electrics..and....the insurance company will be breathing a sigh of relief.
Re: Disaster!
Afraid they won't run to a new box (it is a completely sealed space so really shouldn't be harmed by total immersion), but the alternator is very noisy as a result of its bath so that is getting done.

At least you can console yourself knowing that it will eat 993s and shat them out as little beetle shaped turds behind you.
Dave, it sounds like your car is on its way to recover. Good news!

Good one, 2013 may have been funnier and slightly more accurate.chunky79 wrote:Looking forward to driving it in 2012?bam_bam wrote:Maybe... But the end result includes an A.C.E converter.
