Cheers Ben/craig.
The one I am about to order is 4 bar rated.

If it is faulty then I have it available.
If it’s not faulty then it will be replaced during next full service.
IMHO Too expensive. It’s a common part that Halfords or your local motor factor will have in store. Even AutoDoc sells them for half that price.

Hey, check out BOSCH Fuel pressure regulator in the AUTODOC app https://m.autodoc.fi/bosch/677343

Cheers Craig. I have ordered the one you suggested from Autodoc.
I added a fuel relay as well.

The £60.00 OEM one also had £24.00 delivery charge on top. So it was a non starter

I replaced the FPR on a friend's S6 C5. That was leaking fuel and smelling in the cabin.

I have had a fuel regulator fail on my Rangey. That caused hot starting issues, IIRC.

I can't really see one failing to the point where it causes a blockage, but you never know. It's not a high price for peace of mind.

Craig. I Will still fit the new fuel pump when it arrives.
No idea how old the used pump is.

Just glad we are mobile again. I can even put up with stinking of petrol.

Thank you Suz.
It was a real pain.
It is a much bigger pump than the original.
Had to be inventive as we didn’t have the special removal tool.
Ps window regulator cured the window rattle.

It's turning out to be a good day.

I would put the original external pump back on to see what happens. To see whether it still needs to be hit to start.

No thanks Ben. Let well alone while it’s running smoothly. That is until the new pump arrives from Germany.
Even then I won’t be in any hurry to switch them.

When I get chance I will see about buying the removal tool.
One of those tools that you use only once every 10-15 years.
But makes the job so much easier.
Got by with using the legs on a large pair of tin snips ?

Ain’t doing the lottery this week.

So potentially I had 3 faults all occurring at the same time.
What’s the chances of that happening ?
In tank fuel pump
External fuel pump(tapping it with a hammer)
Crank position Sensor.

Just lucky I guess ???????

This is the second hand uprated in tank fuel pump. I only wanted the external pump but the seller wouldn’t split them. So I had to buy both.

As it turned out I am pleased I bought both. As I needed both of them.

Apparently they made 800 BHP with this setup. I was surprised that bare electrical connections are immersed in fuel.
I checked the original pump when we removed it. That was similar with bare connections.

Been out for a leisurely drive to warm the engine up.
Then a bit quicker drive.
Running really sweet
Just the stink of petrol to get rid of.
Hope Christine is now problem free for a while.

CheeRS to you all for the help during this episode.

I guess all of these were expected.
Cleared all faults.

Makes sense given the fuel starvation problems.
