Hi Guys,

well Audi fixed it, and better still my first claim with warranty direct has covered the cost ! Whilst car was in they found a problem with one of the parking sensors which they are also going to fix under the warranty, only been with Warranty Direct since mid Feb 08 so cant complain.

Anyhow Audi diagnosed the auto doorlocking fault as a problem with O/S/F door lock; part no. A402 837 016.
So far it has worked since Tuesday so I will see how long it lasts for,

cheers

Kev

Hi Guys,

I am hoping that someone maybe able to help me.............

I have asked Audi main dealer to order me a new central locking control unit "module 35" with firmware 38 which is noted on here to be the solution, however I have spoke to the Audi master workshop Tech who has tried to order this for me as he completely agrees that this is the solution, but he is being told that he can not specify which firmware the control unit comes with, basically you get what you get, and the only way to check which firmware it has is to open the packaging and plug it into read it, but then because its been opened you will be charged for it even if its wrong !

So basically can anybody help with a part or id nr for the control unit module 35 with firmware 38 ?

Thanks
Kev

Kev,

I can't help you with the part number but I wondered how much is it going to cost to get this unit and to have it fitted?

Just chiming in..

Isn't this a bit like changing an entire PC motherboard to upgrade the BIOS (firmware)? Surely the whole point is to be able to update the firmware without changing the control unit. If the firmware is updated and the problem still persists then that would then point to the hardware (control unit) - unless of course it either a) Costs the same to just change it anyway - or b) The firmware cannot be updated on it and so HAS to be changed. Or maybe a third reason is that more money can be had by them changing the unit? Who's to know if they replace the unit for a newer one, and then behind closed doors reflash the old one and then sell that one on? On that basis, then you could possibly ask to have it changed on an exchange basis. Does anyone truly know if the firmware CAN be updated without changing 'em and if so, would the labour to carry out that procedure be a false economy as opposed to just changing it?

Someone important at Audi wrote:Our Audi Centres can request stock to be checked at our Parts Distribution Centre if a Customer or Technician wants to confirm that we are supplying the latest software/hardware version of ECU.
;-)

RRP for the module is £200+ according to HO
