when you say new batteries, I assume you mean new 'rfid' tags as they appear to be a sealed unit?? And £100 a pop!!

correct. rfid = radio frequency identification. at 100 quid someone is making some serious money....

What's funny is that we are effectively paying £80 a year for batteries! :shock:

4 sensors x £100 each) / 5 year life = £80 a year. Stealers indeed.

i take it you guys are off warranty or the warranty doesn't cover?

suggest trying a purchase from the us of a.

the unit is not unique to the rs6, it is shared with other a6's, the allroad and the d2 & d3 a8's. however the rfid frequencies will need care - there are 2 frequencies used, and if you use the wrong one you will have 2 issues:
1) you will need to replace the aerial as well, and
2) you will need to be careful of interference on your rf spectrum. at the power levels of these puppies it won't bother the authorities but could bother your cell-phone or sat-nav....

to ascertain your "type" look at your vehicle sticker. you should have either "5d1" or "5d2" on your sticker. relevant part numbers are:
"5d1": 4d0907275
"5d2": 4d0907275a

Cheers for all your help Skiwi,

Mine is the 5D1 - I assume this also relates to the key fob transmitter frequency???

I will have the system connected to VAG COM and hopefully this will show which one(s) or what is dodgy.

Will let you know.

Cheers,
Lig.

£80 for a battery, :lol: Sorry Tom, I just see the funny side! It's a good price compared to Audi tho. I'll probably be needing a couple so will let you know when I've had a chance to check.

Under Pressure?

Post by GardinerG » Wed Aug 22, 2007 7:48 pm

Oki doki, I think I'm going to need 3 valves and 2 sensors as I have 1 brand spanking new wheel in need of both, 1 leaky valve (I think) and the following error:
Address 65: Tire Pressure
Control Module Part Number: 4D0 907 273 C
Component and/or Version: Reifendruckueberw. D310
Software Coding: 22350
Work Shop Code: WSC 00000
1 Fault Found:

01468 - Front Right Tire Pressure Sensor (G223)
53-10 - Supply Voltage Too Low - Intermittent

What I don't get is that it is shown as having 32 months life left using VAG-COM!?! WTF? Anyone else have any ideas what could be causing this?

Tom, I think the part numbers are 4D0907275 for the sensor (as above), and 4D0601361 for the metal valve. Oh and I *think* 4D0601361 comes with both the insert and the cap (N90873301 & N90872901)

Cheers

Grant

P.s. The approximate life of these units is 7 years (according to ELSA).

yes, i've heard that same ting about the confusing "battery life" message. i assume that the software is reflecting a signal strength as an approximation of the battery voltage - i dont know how the voltage could be read indirectly - probably flakey in other words...

bottom line is that the battery is in the tag so that low voltage can only mean 1 thing - replace the tag....

Well I've had the car back from the dealership for a week now and my TPM woes are behind me. Symptoms exactly the same as described by Grant above - fault saying the sensor voltage on 3 out of the 4 was too low but when checked each sensor was showing 28 months left. After a few attempts to get the TPM to rebond with the sensors without joy the dealership swapped out all 4 sensors and voila the warning hasn't appeared since.
