Wonder if its worth removing the rear under bonnet rubber weatherstrip so heat gets drawn out and over the windscreen.

It's a common misconception that air flows OUT at the back of a bonnet. Hence why you don't see race cars with the back end lifted up essex style.

There is normally a HIGH PRESSURE area at the bottom of the windscreen causing air to flow INTO the bay which is why the cabin air intake is always there.

Blue is low pressure red is hIgh pressure. The pic is not RS6 specific but generaly speaking vents in the center of the bonnet work better than vents at the rear of it.

all in all, the Sportec vent mod is by far the most easy/cheap mod you can do really, the amount of heat going through it is huge (heard of one wanting to know if it really works: he couldnt hold his hand more then 30 seconds cos of the air coming out, and thats while at a standstill, let alone while driving and more air gets drawn out of the engine bay.

What keeps me from doing it is the risk of dirt/animals going in...

I'd nevered considered that.
I guess I always thought the airflow over the windscreen would be less compressed but those pics say otherwise.
So the air is hitting the windscreen and instead of immediately flowing over is just sitting there getting higher pressure before it goes...
