Yep, I reckon that's the way forward, I want to try and avoid another large amount being added to my already HUGE bill if at all possible :boohoo:

Thanks

25psi out the box ??

I assume that they are getting some of that from the stock solenoids then because if they are fitted with 1.5bar+ springs then that is fairly mental !!

Do Audi tuners not recommend stepper motor type boost controllers then ?? They would give you finer control I would have thought if you have heftier actuators on your hybrids - I havent done any research on what turbo sizes are on these cars, they cant be very large if they only equate to 5-600bhp with 25lb of boost on a 4.2 litre engine though - in fact this is the thread we were talking about 2860's and 2876's as i recall so pretty weeny really, certainly 25lb would be getting towards their upper edge of the peak efficiency island.

Maybe look at something fairly cheap and friendly like a HKS EVC6 or similar. All these type of controllers give you control by the same amount as the atuator spring again - the idea being you can fit a softer spring so that you get more accurate control percentage wise - so maybe get them fitted with a 1.2bar (18psi) spring and then you can have the boost levels set to 18psi for town driving, low boost at say 23psi and high boost at 30psi assuming you get your reg and pressures up - Bosch 044 would be my recommendation as it will easily flow enough for the power you want, I think they do an in tank equivalent as well if thats how these are designed as standard. As for injectors then the best make are Injector Dynamics and I would be fairly sure they make ones that will fit Audi rails.

Hope that helps.

Yep, we were seeing a pretty constant 25psi and spiking higher! Obviously, the ECU didn't like that very much and just went into "limp" due to the constant overboost.

I've heard good things of the 044 so that's looking like a defo and hopefully we can tame the boost today to get somewhere near the 18-20 psi mark.

Thanks for your input :beerchug:

Yep, your tuner will need to calibrate the N75 controller for the new actuators and spool characteristics for the new turbos. The standard PID settings need tweaked even for standard turbos at high boost, to avoid overshoot during spool.

With a lot of work, you can fit a 5 bar map sensor to these cars, to get correct boost control over 15psi. But when i say it's a lot of work, I really mean it!

Got her back Saturday afternoon :thumb:

Some "spirited" driving on Sunday :FIREdevil:

Back to the garage today

After some WOT action yesterday I noticed I'd developed a pretty nasty boost leak, sounded like a hairdryer was on full blast in the glovebox....

Had a quick check but couldn't see any obvious hoses blown off, IC's still all attached etc. so I called an end to the hooning and drove home like a nun.

Left it with them to have a mooch.....
