Water in rear passenger footwell, few q's

Hi all! So I have the dreaded water in the footwell problem. The rear footwell must have had a good 2 inches deep or water and the front one is only damp on the left hand side. We have just moved house and the car has been parked on the drive which has an incline. Not sure if this would cause it though, I've attached a piccy to show? Have had a good search and found it could be the pollen filter, blocked drain holes in the scuttle area, aircon funnel or rear washer. It's not the rear washer as it's clean water and today took the pollen filter out and checked housing and it's all bone dry. Ran the hose over the car and checked the scuttle drains and they seem fine too so I'm left with the aircon drain tube thingy.. What's the best way to get the carpet up without f'ing it up? Any other things to check for?

Have you got a Milltek exhaust system fitted? if so the heat from these causes a little flap to stick behind the heatshield which then lets water up through the aircon drain. Remove glovebox and kick panel and the plastic side trim along the door step. You can then lift the carpet up enough to check the air con drain and convenience box. If you want more room take the seat out.

I had this exact same problem not too long ago. Turned out to be the drain hole under coolant reservoir (I think) on the scuttle panel. Was blocked up with leaves etc. worth a check before pulling up carpets etc?

Cheers guys! Yes have a Milltek so that could be the problem bilko1. Water runs away freely down the drain holes sean so fairly certain it's not that Wished it was!

It was the scuttle drain on mine that was causing the same symptoms as you.I cant find it at the mo but there is a post with pics on what to look for,i pulled back the carpet in the footwell and stuck the hose down the scuttle drain and if you keep an eye on the air con drain grommet the water comes back up the drain and into the car from there.The drain wasn't completly blocked but enough for this to happen.

Ah okay, so probably best to move the coolant bottle and poke it anyway. Once I get rid of the child for a few hours I'll crack on! Cheers for the help guys

Yup tis coming back up through the aircon gromet when I pour water down the skuttle zzz Central locking started playing up today too so just getting it sorted now. How do you remove the passenger seat>? I'd rather it was out so a mate who has a carpet cleaning business can get in there good over the carpet with his machines! Is the carpet all one piece too?

Me again The aircon drain grommet... does it just lead straight out? If i poke it I don't seem to make much headway but if I put my finger in (ooo errr!) I can feel the crap in there but it does feel like it leads off to the left hand side?

Afaik there is a flap but it sticks due to the heat from the exhausts, it's hidden by the heat shields underneath. You need to give it a good poking or take the engine out remove the heat shields and replace it. The last bit is a joke btw I'm not sure how you get the heat shields off.

Cheers.. after a bit of poking around it now seems to flow out fine BUT now appears to be leaking in through the pollen filter housing whilst testing the other bit! F'in car !! Broke the nut on the housing too so have left it till tomorrow before I smash something in a rage. Thanks fo rthe help

Okay all dried up but my central locking is still not working. Can I assume that the convenience has had it or would I need to pair the keys back up through Vagcom?

It's not working in what way?

It works fine when you turn the key in the door to lock, when you unlock it just unlocks the drivers door but as soon as you put the key in the ignition you can unlock all the doors from the button on the drivers door. The remote fobs don't work at all

Get the module out and dry it up. Who knows, you might be able to save it.

Been drying for a few days now and had it in the airing cupboard too I'll keep trying a few more days but I think it may have had it
