You are not having much luck!

These things make a grown man/woman cry daily....

I HATE mine but struggle to get my head around selling it

My TC went and yes it is a big job - there are people in the us that can change the gearbox without taking the engine out but they seem to be a little way ahead of us.
I had the box out, inspected by the warranty company, sent TC to Sussex autos who confirmed the issue. Warranty company inspected again and approved a claim. Sussex autos suggested a full box rebuild as there could be swarf in the box.
Had the box stripped to individual components and replaced everything that was not perfect ( box was under 10k miles old). Zf actually supplied some uprated parts according to the guy that's doing the work as they know what the failure rate is!
It's a kick in the balls - I know it was for me and I had a warranty ( only covered £3k though) but took the opportunity to replacetiming belt (6k old but makes sense if engine out) water pump, stat, rocker cover gaskets, crank oil seal and just had new alternator. Hoping prevention is the cure for any of the usual faults!
Good luck mate, fingers crossed it's just low fluids

Mine did a similar thing and turned out to be low ATF as an oil pipe to the cooler was weeping. Luckily a flush and new ATF and seems ok. Hope it's as simple as that for you. Def worth a shot.

Hey boys, i took to my local audi specialist today and they did a full vagcom and no faults were present... My mate drove the car to the garage which is 20mins away and he didnt have any problem, the mechanic took it for a test drive and was fine, gearbox was also inspected and fine... Im getting a service done on it replacing the fluid, filters, gaskets etc...
What could have it been??!
Its weird...

Hmmmm..... would i trust Audi.... No.
They would tell you no faults present if it meant replacing a gearbox under warranty......
When they did mine, I noticed a weep from the sump. By this time i had told audi they were a bunch of useless cnuts and taken it to unit 20. Grizz found, and i saw this with my own eyes every single nut on the sump fingertight, except one..... which was not there at all..... Oh and my milltek had been put on with no clamps or bolts either......
Grizz please confirm.........
It's all Bollox.
Half of what you read is bull and the other half is all <beep>.

Your doing the right thing - get the oil inspeccted and serviced. If it keeps doing the thud it should throw a code for something - solenoid, tq, gear selector - so until it does be careful.

just got my car back from the audi specalist and its all fine; they changed the filter in the box, gasket, seals and oil...

its goes into gear more smoother and i dont have no thud anymore; they did say the oil was low...

Do you mind telling who the Audi guys were that you used? Might be of use to some others depending where they are in the country in case its a long way to travel to the usual suspects. :)

That's interesting, I thought the DRC tool was dealer only too...........

Useful for those still on DRC to have an option if they need work doing on it.

Yep very interesting and timely. I'm off to see Rob at Camberley on Wednesday to have my DRC checked out. Work may well need to be done so its nice to have another option if needs be. Thanks for the info.
