Radio Reception

Post by m3vhf » Fri Feb 11, 2011 2:15 pm

Hi All,

Is there anyway i can improve the radion signal on my RNSE?

I am unable to pick up Kiss 100 in my home area around Camberley, especially parked up at home. I've set the preset a few times now, but its always greyed out once i've changed channels.

Most other stations pick up ok, quite frustrating as all my previous cars were fine in my area. Is bad reception a common problem on the RNSE?

Can i amplify the signal, or does it already have on built in?

Only if you have retrofitted an RNS-E to an Audi that had a Series II+ radio - as they use different diversity systems.

All Audis have amplified diversity antenna systems.

Ok thanks. Mine isnt retrofitted. Don't supose there is anyway of increasing the gain on the antenna?

Nope, actually you've got 4 antennas and a high gain amplifier setup already.

Maybe the amplifier isn't working?

I can pick up BBC Radio Solent in Camberley in my RS4 but in my other cars it disappears around Winchester - that's why I suspect you may have an amplifier problem (there's no VAG-COM diagnostics on the amplifiers).

Thanks Dave, do you know where the radio amp is located (B7 RS4)? I would like to see if i can remove it and check the connections & part number before getting a new one.

Depends on if you have a saloon, avant or cab - and whether you have the TV option.

It's a Saloon without TV option.

I'm 99% certain the amp on the saloon is above the rear window.
