Another TV AUX Question.....
Another TV AUX Question.....
Hi all - apologies if this has already been covered off in another thread...
I have just bought a 2001 B5 RS4 Avant with the OEM TV Tuner and CD Based SATNav+ system. Looking to add a couple of mods to keep the nippers quiet in the back....
1) make 'TV in motion' function - I understand this is just a case of disconnecting the GA white/blue lead from the headunit ??
2) As I understand it, as I have the non-B TV Tuner it should be able to use the AUX inputs for hooking up an external DVD Player (will also allow DVD's to be playe din the front once TV in motion has been resolved...
3) Am I able to create an additional OUTPUT for the OEM TV Tuner as I want to hook up additional screens in the backof the headreasts with the ability to view TV ??
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.....

RE: Another TV AUX Question.....
tv in motion is just a matter of snipping the GALA wire as you say, i've put a small pushbutton switch in the line so i can enable or disable it as required.
you can plug any video or audio source into the tuner and listen or watch by pressing the mode button when in TV to switch to the aux input and yes, it works whilst on the move too assuming you've cut the GALA wire
not sure about the third question, i think the answer is no but no doubt someone will be along soon who knows the definitive answe

I have a switch because I like having speed-sensitive volume control!
IIRC the issue is that the RNS-D was fitted to a range of models, and there are SOME cars which do have a nav problem when the gala connection is removed.
Another reason to fit a switch is in case of an accident and the investigator discovered that the gala wire was permanently disconnected, and we all know how insurance companies never try to avoid paying up do they?

No, I don't think you can. I had difficulty removing my HU. There is a certain technique you need with the keys and so I'd just recommend that you persevere.

Try easing a bank card round the edges coated in vasaline or similar,it will help break the seal and assist it popping out, makes a change from vasaline assisting popping things in ha ha,try popping one side at a time rather than getting both sides ot the same time, patience is a must those little keys scratch the unit easily as my main agent proved !!!!!!!
