Sat Nav Plus Firmware Update?

Post by Golfather » Sun Jun 05, 2005 2:01 pm

Hi

Does anyone know where I can download the firmware update to upgrade a SatNav Unit on a B5 RS4?

There used to be a site tvwiz.net but dont think that exists now.

Thanks in advance

I'd be surprised that an RS4 SatNav didn't have the latest software, but in case your's doesn't, it is available here: http://www.nav-plus.com/instructions/software.html

FYI Dan (TVWIZ) was forced by AoA to close his site. I believe this was because of the instructions on how to create a backup copy of a Nav CD.

Excellent thanks Dippy.

I actually found this site last night as well as others: http://www.navplus.us/ http://www.vwnavi.com/vwnavi/forums/
and noticed some of you guys also post there.

Lots of useful info there.
My firmware was Dec 2000 so needed the Nov 2001 update.
Got the firmware updated, but had to burn the disc at 4x for it to work.

Dazzer, yes I have :D

Gents

Can anybody give me a clue as to what Nav+ system would've been fitted to my 99 fl S4 Avant with TV as it has a 99 firmware release on it and if possible i'd like to try and update it. Also can anyone suggest what is the latest release Nav disc i can run as i currently have a 01 disc in it

Cheers in advance

If your car is a facelift, it should have the 'D' Navi. However you do need to be sure because if you try to upgrade a 'C' Navi it may die!

I theory it should be possible to determine which you have from the 'hidden' software screen, but I don't know how to interpret the numbers. What I can tell you is that you can tell from the Navi model number, which will be on a sticker on the side of the unit (so if you have the 4 keys you could release it far enough to see).

8D0 035 192 D or lower is 'C' Navi and should not be upgraded.
8D0 035 192 E or higher is 'D' Navi and may be upgraded.

If it is a 'D' Navi then it can read the latest DX CDs from Teleatlas (www.navshop.com)

If you know it won't run DX disks then yes it IS a 'C' Navi. You can swap it for a 'D', but there are pitfalls (as well as cost) so you'll really need to want the benefits (such as TMC).

Yes, but you'd be pressed to find an updated non-DX disc unfortunately.
