Radio Volume going crackers

Post by shamtec25 » Wed Feb 04, 2004 11:17 pm

When I get in the car in the morning and touch the volume control on the radio it turns the volume up to a ridiculous level. I then turn it down and it mutes. You touch it either way it either mutes or turns right up.

I cannot see why it does this, the solution found is to bear the noise for 10 seconds or so then you can slowly turn it down.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Check the vlume setup menu.
Try setting the default volume to a low level and see if that helps.

Also, does it matter if you listen to the CD rather than the radio ?
Just wondering if you have Traffic Announcements enabled.

Sounds a funny one, so might be worth seeing if vagcom gives any audio errors. If you don't have vagcom that might mean a trip to the dealers to see if they will plug it in and diagnose it for you.

Good luck !

Cheers,
John.

I have this problem too. It means either a new stereo or tacking the unit to an electronic specialist, they change the control unit that controls the volume level. It is better when the stereo is warm?

On a similar note, I've found that the volume increments are really large on my stereo (Bose syphony system) and when the TA kicks in it is REALLY loud, even though I've turned the TA volume down to 1 in the settings. Anyone had this problem?
