Replacing Rear Speakers

Post by Joshie » Sun Apr 13, 2003 11:03 pm

Has anyone replaced the rear speakers in the RS4 /S4 / A4 Avant which has the bose system?

If so did you need a special cradle to enable standard speakers to be fitted to the door mount or are there custom fit speakers available. Any leads on specialists to contact would be appreciated.

Here are the speakers they suggest...

Not sure how they compare to the Standard/Bose ones. I would be tempted to look for branded ones.

You could also try these guys - www.technicar.ltd.uk - Tell them I sent you, it might help Image .

Point noted Simon, thanks and I also appreciate the link.

I thought that quite a few of the RS4 guys had uprated their audio systems. Did you leave the OEM speakers in the rear doors and if so what did you do to improve sound quality?

I left in OEM speakers but rewired with uprated speaker cable then these are fed from new Gemini amp

It isnt always the speakers themselves that give a good sound, it depends what is sending the sound to them

Really the rear speakers do very little, the front door speakers are a good set with tweeter and mid range, the rears are just a basic mid range speaker

depends what you are trying to achieve

Good luck
Can't beat a bit of boost!

I have a set of focal utopia in the front and nothing at all in the rear - the focals took muchos work to get in without fouling the windows but the sound is well worth it
Some additional sound deadening, uprated wiring and a decent source will vastly improve the quality of sound from your OEM speakers.
