Update for Sat/Nav+

Post by cpt_splash » Wed Feb 21, 2007 9:07 pm

I just bought a new CD for UK & Ireland 2007 for my Navigation Plus DX system in my 2000 RS4. I bought the version with the iTMC for updated traffic reports. This did not work in my system. Do I need a software update, or do I need to buy the version with iTMC? Thanks in advance. Graham

Is this the one you bought:

It's the one I bought about three weeks ago, stuck it in and it worked. Is your tuner working OK? The iTMC reports are received via Classic FM, which it tunes into in the background.

Do I need to have Classic FM running first when I put the CD in? I can't believe that you have to do that....

Do you have the RNS-C and not the D?

No, you don't need Classic FM running at all. You're in safe hands with Craig, he knows his stuff.

RS4 should have RNS-D if it was an OEM fit.

I had a similar issue recently. It would read my old disc, but not my new one.
I fixed it when I pulled the navi unit and cleaned the laser. It's been fine ever since.

Might be worth a try...

The error message said that the "CD could not be read. Please insert correct CD". Not very helpful!!! Problem was that as the CD would not read, no functions would work except eject CD. Once the old one went in, it was fine. Arrghh!!!

To clean the laser you need to pull the navi unit from the dash and then use a cotton bud and alcohol (medical - not Vodka !) down the access hole in the top of the case.

Maybe better/less effort to try a cleaning CD first ?
