Stone chip

Post by Rwg » Wed Sep 09, 2020 4:28 pm

Hi,
After some fun driving over 5,500 miles I have aquired my first stone chips to the bennets, 2 infact.
Can any one advise what would be best option to considder having bennets painted or repaired any recommedations in the Carlisle area.
Car is just 12 mths old now so hoping not to have painted.
Cheers
Paul

I use the paint pen that comes with the car
Apply it with with the brush in the pot
Allow to dry for about 10 min then i use t cut with a microfiber cloth with a flat rubber block the keep the cloth from digging out the paint from the chip
Repeat until the chip is full and a final polish with
Maguires ultimate compound to polish any fine scratches

Well not strictly a pen its a touch up pot with a brush similar to a nail varnish brush

Feeling brave and have a dual action polisher?

1. Clean out the chip with alcohol on ear bud
2. Build up paint in layers with applicator / cocktail still until it sits just under level of surrounding paint.
3. Add lacquer so it sits proud of chip
4. Sand carefully with 1800 grit - don't worry if you catch a bit of surrounding lacquer
5. Polish with suitable pad and polish to remove sanding marks

Repair should be almost invisible.
