************Product Update(ESP Engineering)***********

Post by espengineering » Mon Feb 25, 2008 2:12 pm

Product update on the gear box brace bars, we assembled and fitted and tested on our own S4 so far so good, really responsive, really good feed back on it, easily fitted, good clearance over all well chuffed with it!Hopefully we have independant RS4 and S4 owners coming down this week for testing, wait for the feedback.

Gear knob update, we have a couple in the field being tested hope to be getting feedback on these soon, watch this space.

Looking at new products, possibly Billet lightweight fly wheels and Billet aux drive pullies, Thoughts and opinions please people

Thankyou

Kylie

Also Work has been started on the short shifter kits trhere is a possibilty that these are going to be adjustable for individuality and prefered driving styles.

I thinking about flywheel options at the moment but don't want the gear noise that comes with it being too light.

Not sure about that, i would imagine that is why they use dual mass fly wheels to soak up the vibration, hopefully the tuners will be able to answer that question, im not brainey enough!

I think the noise is caused by gear 'chatter' which the OEM flywheel damps out.

You don't need adjustable pulleys as they are fully adjustable as standard .

true but you dont get the accuracy of running them both at1 or 2 degrees advance or not.... plus although they are interferance fit I wouldnt dare
try setting the pullyes without the brace bar with means you cant really set them anything other than std.... where as with verniers you could run them both at sat 4 degrees advance after you set them up as std..... ?? that make sense?

Tip regarding the lightweight flywheel. You will be competing against companies that mass produce flywheels for many different vehicles who will be able to under cut your prices unless you cut corners in the development process or you are not in it to make a reasonable profit. I have seen B5 S4/RS4 lightweight flywheels on the internet for about £180.00. Food for thought. Go away and cost up a 12" diameter billet, a ring gear, steel face plate, input shaft bearing and the cost to balance the flywheel. Good luck if you go down this road, but I have been there and the UK market (in general) will not pay the prices for low volume high quality flywheels.

Thanks for the heads up, we are just pricing up at the moment, we will keep trying it and see where we go! £180 is seriously cheap though god!

Thanks again

Support backets for rear sub frame may be a good thing to look at. As people keep breaking them with uprated ARB's..

Just been down to see Liam so that he can test fit the DTS to a RS4. The stabiliser looks lovely as does the gear knobs, the DTS bolted straight on to my RS4 without modification....pukka job.

Certainly worth talking to Liam if you want a DTS or a gear knob....I'm going to have a black gear knob :)
