Just trying to remove the valve guides, can anyone tell me how this is done! are they pressed in? from which side?

Removing them from the 2.4 head before it goes for pressure testing ...

valve guides are usually fitted by either heating up the cylinder head and freezing the guides then once in position allowed to cool together for a tight fit..
best left to a machine shop for a proper job..

Just trying to work out the best way here, I have loads of those little one use only hose clips which I have had to bend and break to get off, now I am left with having to replace these soon ... Is there another aftermarket solution, or do I need to buy a selection of these little clips from audi?

I like the JCS High-grip they are a variation of the jubilee clip, Genuine Jubilee is also good. JCS also do one called High-Torque its a stainless version, marine grade. I think the zinc coated ones are fine in most applications, stainless just looks good. this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Miniclamp-Hose-Cl ... 0223490306 is a really good selection of small clamps, really handy. I got these and they were really good for all the small pipes.

oetiker stepless, is the clips fitted to the cars as standard ( I have the pliers, if anyone needs them) I went to southend Audi, and they said they don't use them! they said we use this ( it was a jcs clip) hope this is helpful

The single use ones are better as they do not have any sharp edges, bolt heads that the Jubilee type have. These type can rub on hoses etc leading to leaks and damage to components.

As Simon suggests Wurth, supply a box of single use hose clips. The box has most of the sizes you should need, the correct tool is needed to crimp them for the factory look.

Yes as I said in the post I have the tool, if anyone wants to borrow it.(Essex) yes the minclamps are sharpish, but if you keep them clear of other hoses, and turn them the right way they are fine. they are also nice and round, I have had mine a while. you will be well impressed by the neat little rack they come with.

Just found that Garrett do a Speed Sensor, which I think it a neat idea! Perfect for making sure they are not over spooling!

Does anyone know of any good data loggers? preferably something thats in its own unit with alarms, a bit like the Zeitonix unit that can be stand alone and pass the data out to a laptop for reference ...

As far as my build is going, still waiting on parts!! but hopefully most of the stuff should be with me next week, so time to get cracking ...

I did Darren thanks, but not sure I am going to use them for all of it, I am not too keen on the screws protruding like they do

Yes, they will be fine where there is nothing in the way, plus they are nice and round.
