There's been much talk about the 6 piston caliper/pad design being better than the separate pad 8 piston design though I must agree the larger disc does sound better...jimbo1234567 wrote:ive just measured the disc and its a piddley 350mm???????????????????? if someone was going to do a brake upgrade why make the disc smaller it doesnt make sense to me pad wise ive chucked the pagid blacks that were on it and am now going to use up the pagid yellows that came with the car. before long i can see myself taking it all off in favour of a b7 setup

Piddley 350mm? I thought the originals where smaller than that on the S4?
In fact, I am sure they are around 320mm on the standards up front?
352 is what you get on the ECS stage 4 setup
360 on the B5 RS4 IIRC.
363 on the B7 ?
All have more or less the same calliper design as you have already I think and I don't believe there is a lot of difference in the performance as you are talking about gnats hair difference in the disc size, especially when its 3mm on the B7 to the B5 - though there may be other differences in the disc design than just the size (someone with more insight than me may be able to chime in here?)
I would personally just get your current brakes working properly before you completely kick them into touch LOL or maybe compare to someone elses with similar setup?
EDIT:
Sorry just realised you are talking about a B5 RS4 that you have not an S4

Just put up a picture of the disc, that usually helps identify things

OEM RS4? I know that loads of the Porsche disc`s are 350X32, maybe it is a Turned down OEM. Its so hard to find a 350X32 or near with the right offset without paying mega...... unless anyone knows better.

RE: Re: RE: BREMBO BRAKES
Wouldn't be a Porsche disc as the hub spigot and PCD is incorrect, there is a disc off the VW Touareg (has the same caliper as above) that is the correct size but again the PCD and hub spigot are different.
If it is a turned down OE then there must be one hell of a pad overhang as removing 15mm from the diameter (7.5mm radially) would reduce the area for the pad to sweep.

Deans front discs were OEM RS4.
I had to out and check my calipers were on the right way last night!

RE: Re: RE: BREMBO BRAKES
The standard RS4 pad is very deep. The Porsche pad must be longer and narrower.

bobbler, could you measure the pad width of the cayenne calipers please? Effectively the the swept width of the disc.bobbler wrote:Piddley 350mm? I thought the originals where smaller than that on the S4?

Hi mate, which bit do you mean exactly? Disk width, caliper width or the brake pad itself?MarkB wrote:
