Oil Cooler for S3 (from Amd)

Post by DuncS3 » Fri Apr 04, 2003 9:17 am

FYI - I enquired about the Oil Cooler advertised on AMDs site (@340 pounds) - here is their reply:

"The oil cooler kit is from Mocal and we fit them to suit here in our workshop. We use a sandwich plate between the oil filter and housing to carry the oil via a thermostatically controlled valve, to a cooling radiator positioned at the front of the car"

I'm still not too sure what advantage thsi gives

basically helps keep engine temperatures down, which inturn means it will perfrm better under extreme loads, such as track days
Can't beat a bit of boost!

Dunno about anyone else but I noticed quite an increase in Oil temp at Castle Combe.

Usually it's just below 100, on the track it was just over 120 so perhaps an increase of about 25degrees C

I guess the effect was more on the tuned cars.
