Is high mileage an issue?

Post by juice » Fri Sep 25, 2009 2:29 pm

Hi guys, bit curious really, as im new to Audi teritory and dont have a clue....most of the cars that i have seen for sale are getting on 90K plus miles.

never really owned such a high mileage car before but wondering what you guys are on.

as long as its been serviced correctly the engine is a tank right?

I bought my old B5 S4 avant with 85k on the clock, had it modded, sold it at 120k and it drove just as well. I'm hopefully about to buy a 110k B5 RS4 and have every confidence it'll do me justice.

I asked the same question last year, and modding a high miler. Got mine with 99k. I knew it was mapped but luckily for me had miltech cats and downpipes :D 451bhp. 13k with 3 year warranty up to 2k am now on 110k and loving it.

any probs in those 11k miles of ownership running that power?

my only concern is with a high miler...i dont want the turbos to fail
Avus B5 RS4, Miltek down pipes/No cats/Miltek Cat-back, Wagner uprated SMIC's, short shifter, B7 brakes, Phaeton brake ducts, H&R ARB's, H&R Coilovers, AWE DTS, MRC custom Remap + water meth injection = BIG GRIN on my face with poo in my passengers pants

**Now with a Carbon roof**

Nobody does!

Buy one and if your really worried about it, put some money by in case it happens, or purchase a warranty (Audi or 3rd party).

Bought mine at 104k and now on 107k - lots of niggles but never missed a beat
My 1st rs4 was no better from 60k-70k miles, this high miler had a lot of the work done already
My belief (but others might disagree) is that how the car has been driven through its life is more important than mileage - lots of steady boost motorway miles has to be better than lots of on/off boost
My cams (original) were fine at 105k which I suspect is testament to its motorway life
Get a specialist inspection for peace of mind
