rs4 down on power......i have a maf reading..

Post by maxrs4 » Mon May 18, 2009 7:02 pm

i rolling road'd the rs4 and got 395, got told i should have 450 ish from the last owner, it was running a bit rich, i checked the air filter and it was blocked to crap! so i have a new one and its running much better but should i be concerned i got a reading of 351.7 gs as i hit the limiter in second but im not sure what it should be! or even how to do the readings properly. i could get a print out of the car if it helps!!

thanks for you help in advance im new to the vag world!!

g/s is .8 bhp (roughly)
so divide 350 by 4 then time by 5

87.5 x 5 = 437.5 bhp (approx)

If the last owner talks bhp but has a blocked air filter I'd take his estimate with a pinch of salt :)

thanks, the last owner was genuine enough and it is due a service anytime now. if its 437.5 ish a propper service might get it near on the 450 ish

how is it your know maf gs = bhp power ?

I'm not sure where it originated but it seems to be quite accurate.
Anyone know?

Yes, but you either need a known good log or post your state of tune and remap type. If you are stage 3, then you should be maxing out the MAF reading on vag-com = 464.08

Vag-com > engine module > measuring blocks > block 003 > Log > Start.

Use 3rd gear 3500 - 7000 rpm.

The snap on tool is good, but not as good as vag-com!

Do a search on google for it - lots of info.

A std RS4 will see between 280 and 300 g/s on the MAF IIRC.

I have just changed my MAF - was also down on power.

Old one peaked at 270 g/s

Brand new from Audi showed 320 g/s today but I feel the car is still slower than it used to be and cannot find out why.

We checked boost with my friend today and it acts weird - car wants 2.4, boost is much lower, then it goes up to 2.3 when it is 2.3 expected by car, keeps it and then looses a lot and goes down to like 2.0

I no longer have that kick in the @ss that used to be there at around 3750-4000 rpms - it is more smooth and linear now.

Any ideas? My mechanic said it might have something to do with clogged cats? Or is that a poor guess?

Have you pressure tested yet as that sounds like a boost leak?

Will try to do so asap.

Was just reading some older posts and started to think if N75 can cause some of this - I have already changed both DVs and MAF so that's the last thing to check I guess?
