Battery
Battery
Folks
This morning i went to get something out of the RS and noticed that everything was a bit dull (dash/interior light). The Battery is flat. The Battery is only 18 months old (Bosch). i went on holiday a couple of months ago, and it was flat after 2 weeks. Ok, I thought, that's possible, charged it and away I went. This time, it has only been sitting since Friday. It should not be flat already.
Do I have a drain? Where do I start looking?
Thanks!

RE: Battery
Morning Norrs, might be worth getting it checked- had a similar problem in the past and it was down to a faulty cell. Failing that possibly related to the alternator?? You probably need someone with a bit more tech knowledge......

RE: Re: RE: Battery
Happened a few times on my old S4 - the kids know better then to mess with the lights now!Last time mine went flat, which was a few weeks back, the kids had left the small lights on in the back. Long shot, I know, but it was an easy fix.

Re: RE: Battery
Possibly - mine has gone flat on one occasion as well.Norrs2 wrote:Yes i do! Related?mbelle wrote:Do you have Nav Plus+TV?
When you switch of the engine and remove the key from the ignition, your Nav unit turns itself off after ~2-3secs (mine can be heard as a slight deep clunk from the N/S rear boot area, obvisouly, as it is located there).
On this one occasion, I pulled up in my drive and continued watching TV for ~1min, then removed the key from the ignition i.e. the last function my unit was in was TV.
I don't recall hearing the unit switch itself off (although my display went out) - next morning, battery was flat.
Now, I never leave it on TV when removing the key from the ignition, and always listen to ensure the unit switches itself off...

Best to get your battery and alternator checked, and then if all is good, you need to check the battery drainage ideally with a tong tester on the battery, and pull out each fuse individually, and see if the value drops. If it does, then check what that fuse is for.
Thats a starting point!

RE: Re: RE: Battery
My last Bosch battery ( fitted to a ' seasonal ' Ford ) lasted 12 years

It must be a 23rd September feature; mine was flat yesterday too! And as it's less than 2 years with old "no previous" I was surprised. Car had only stood 2 days since it had a fairly decent outing. As far as I can see nothing left on and no TV, though it does have Nav+, but will see if it repeats now it's been charged and investigate from there.

Thanks for the responses guys. Thanks Virdee, I'll get it checked out.
I'll report back any findings.
