RS4 spacers size

Post by Taipan » Mon Sep 29, 2003 5:08 pm

Hi everyone,

Just a quick one to those who added spacers on their RS4 :

- did you put exactly the same size on front and rear, like 10 mm / 10 mm

- or did you put a higher figure on rear, like 10mm / 15mm ?

Cheers,

Eric

Or else you can get the Tecnomagnesio Detroit F1+ and you don't need spacers

I think the standard 18" rims from Sportec do not need spacers, it is just the 19 x 10's that do, not totally sure

Also the Sportec rims are made by MIM for the record, they have the MIm stamp on the inside

My 18" Sportecs have spacers on them but not sure if that is because of the wheels or because I have the Movits on the front. Anyone know?

Ok, must be the wheels

Cheapest way to make them I guess, do them as all 20mm offset then use spaceers to fita range of cars

The Movits should be the same hub position as standard, within about 5mm anyway

Sportec 18" have ET 35 so spacers needed. Why spend money on the Sportec wheels (which as Bushy said, MIM makes) when you can have the same design (1 spoke difference) and spend much less + no spacers????

Just picked up on this thread sorry guys.

The Sportec 10x19's require a 20mm spacer as they are ET40 wheels, and 19x8.5 are ET35 like the RS6 and require 15mm spacers.

What you looking at Eric?

Hi Andy,

I was just considering adding spacers around 10mm without changing the rims, for a larger width (for both road handling and cosmetic).

As I did it on the Passat and found out that the front wheels seem to be a bit out of the frame (but not the rear), I was just wondering about front vs rear.
Also some FR owners of S3 had +5 mm more on the rear than front.
Not sure if doing it different front/rear wouldn't be worse to handling than anything else.
