Lost Sound on radio
I had a similar issue with poor Radio reception - the symptom sounds the same or similar.
I eventually traced it back to the diversity antenna (in the rear near-side compartment adjacent to the CD changer / DSP if you have one). One of the anntenas had a poor connection / dry joint. I ended up resoldering the connection and it's worked fine ever since.

I had exactly the same problem and it is easy to fix and costs nothing !! The last poster is spot on, its just a dry joint on the small blackbox attached to the CD changer cradle in the passenger side cubby hole in your boot.
You can confirm this by wiggling the connector going in and as if by magic the radio will come on.
Solution re-solder the dry joint yourself or get a friend to do it.....
