REAR RS4 B7 Brakes on RS4 B5

Post by RS4KID » Mon Dec 13, 2010 8:09 am

so i tried fixing the rs4 B7 rear brakes on my B5 rs4 and i got a problem. The bolts that supposed to attach calipers to the car from B5 are too small for B7 kit. The B7 kit came without those bolts. Below are the part numbers of the calipers that I have:
8E0615423K CALIPER 1
8E0615424K CALIPER 1
8E0615425K CALIPER 2

I have checked on ETKA and i found this part number N 910 464 01 BOLTS 4 PCS. The problem is, it is unclear if these are the bolts that I need.

Can anyone confirm if these is the correct part number for those damn bolts? Please help...

Many thanks

Do a search on here. You will find "Brooner" fitted these to his B5 RS4. You will have to enlarge the holes on the upright to 12mm iirc for the B7 bolts to fit.
MRC used some sort of offset/stepdown bolt which does not require the hole to be enlarged.
HTH.

Can you not take the original B5 bolt and the B7 caliper carrier to a hardware shop and ask for a bolt the length of the B5 bolt but large enough to fit the thread in the B7 carrier? Make sure you get it in the hardest type available though. The above way you will have to redrill the upright.
Also search RSmonkey's posts as i am sure he had his done at MRC without the redrilling.

1.. scallop the b5 hub so you can get in to drill the upright squarely and drill out to take the b7 bolt but be aware the disc will need turning down approx 5mm.

2... use a bolt the same size as the b5 but slightly longer so it goes straight through the b7 carrier and can get a good fat washer and bolt on the other side. this is the mrc method and allows you to pull the carrier out while tightening the bolts that hold it. no disc mods needed here but still not quite there.

3.. same as no 2 but you elongate the holes in the carriers to let it come further out still then the pads will sweep the center of the disc and you will get an even lip on the inner and outer edge of the disc which is what you want.
