Guys,
I am pulling ma hair out here. I am getting the following error:
17800 Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 (G163): Open Short to Plus
Now I have replaced the Cam Sensor.
My mechanic has checked the wiring and tested it, he says its all good
The Cam Belts were replaced a few thousand miles ago, it was all done professionally and the error was showing itself intermittently before the belt change. Now the error just wont go away at all.
Just to confirm, Bank 2 is the passenger side isn't it?
Have you any ideas? Please help!
Thanks,
SpeedJunky

Re: Cam Sensor Error Open Short plus
Ok...well I have solved my own problem....here is how....
The error I was getting was for the Passenger Side (UK) cam sensor. This is what I thought based on a G163 error, but I thought I would double check anyway and disconnect the Drivers Side sensor to see what happens. I then fired up the car and strangely my car was only reporting a fault on G40 which is the drivers side sensor, BUT cruicially no error was reported for the passenger side....weird!!!
Anyway at that point I thought, what happens if I reconnect the Drivers side....will I be fault free? So I reconnected the Drivers side sensor, fired up the car and clear the errors on my laptop....hey presto....I got a "No Faults Found" returned!!
Now I dont understand why generating an error on the wrong cam sensor cleared the error on the other side, but it worked and I will take that result!!
