Steering wheel badge / emblem
Contrary to what some may say.... you CAN get just the RS4 badge.
See here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 610wt_1107
Arrived today, identical to the original and fitted just the same.
(tad loose, but so was the original one.... small dab of blue-tack.... bingo)
Still a bl**dy rip-off but better than the silly figures from Audi.
Ps. I may remove again and cover with lacquer as the paint is again too fragile for the location of the badge.

Fitted mine yesterday, a little dab of glue hope I don't have to replace it if it scratches again..... might not come off so easily next time!

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
The badge is held in place by a grab washer that grips one of the pegs on the rear of the badge, so when you prize the original badge off the washer will just drop inside the silver trim and you would never know it was there…unless you can hear it rattling inside!

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
That might explain why I have a rattle coming from inside my steering wheel!!!Teutonic Tuner wrote:The badge is held in place by a grab washer that grips one of the pegs on the rear of the badge, so when you prize the original badge off the washer will just drop inside the silver trim and you would never know it was there…unless you can hear it rattling inside!
Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
I've just bought one too.
Is there any way to either prevent the washer falling away or getting it out afterwards. Could do with a rattle coming from the steering wheel, I can imagine it becoming very annoying very quickly.

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
What was the end verdict from ppl that bought one of these emblems?
Is it not possible to undo the silver plastic thing around the emblem from the back (torx screw or something), and remove the clips from the back of the original emblem, and then fit the new emblem with the original clips?

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
I've already fitted one of these likkle RS4 badges from ebay - they are of decent quality - my old badge came free with a fine engineering screw driver levering it out. The new one went in with a dab of Araldite on each round tab - I now have a unblemished solid RS4 badge on my FBSW.
Oh by the way - take a read of this email I got from a certain supplier in the US when I inquired about a RS4 badge for my new steering wheel project ...
>>
RS4 Steering Wheel Badge - $95.50 each (Retail - $113.00)
Lower Badge Plate - $28.00 each (Retail - $48.40)
Shipping – $27.95
TOTAL – $151.45
<<
god damn rip off muther funker
I wont name names unless you lot really want me to!

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
Mine is still waiting to be fitted, I'd like to say it is because I was looking at a carbon alternative to the alu trim but truth be told I just haven't got round to doing it yet. Wheels, lights, remaps, exhausts and stereo all seemed more important in the last year.
Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
I undid the Torx screws on back of silver bit of wheel (all 4) and then wasn't sure how much force to apply to separate the halves so gave up and carefully pried the badge out with a fine tipped screwdriver
the new one fitted in snugly enough not to need any glue
this is the item I bought and its identical to the one I took out

Re: Steering wheel badge / emblem
I fitted a new one of these (from ebay as shown) to my RS4 when I got it. I simply removed the lugs from the back of the badge with a pair of nail scissors and sanded them flat, and then superglued the new emblem onto the scratched original one (which was knackered!).
The new emblem sits slightly proud of the surface of the silver plastic, but it does look very smart indeed and I prefer it this way than recessed. So far it hasn't marked.
