Should I ???
Should I ???
I've been offered a 2003 RS6, 94k miles, Misano Red, FSH as far as I am aware, recent tyres, all for £7,000.
I have been looking for a replacement for my Passat V5, but had been thinking more along the lines of a A6 3.0TDi or S4.
I won't be doing anymore than 5k per year, but am I still going to cry every time I go to the petrol station?
So what is the real world MPG around the doors on these beasts, is DRC that bad, will it definately fail? Is the gearbox likely to go pop as soon as I drive it down the road? Sorry for all the questions but my heart is saying buy it but my head is saying run a mile.

Re: Should I ???
Hi Lofty
That looks very cheap for a 03, 94K car - like 3K cheaper than I would expect - so the question is why??
Yes you will weep everytime you fill it up - about £110 for a tank-full which will take you about 300 miles
Read the Buyers Guide for common problems. If it does have FASH then you should be able to get Audi Warranty (up to 120K miles now I believe) which will remove worries (including DRC or box) for next 5 years at your mileage! Warranty is about £2K IIRC.
So basically, unless you have a solid service and fuel budget, then your head needs to win.

Sorry to hear about your Car going kaputt - Hope to see you back with another beast soon.
Slight change of thread. Apologies but where did you hear about the Audi Extended Warranty being upto 120k? I always thought this was 100k.
thanks

Re: Should I ???
Heard unofficially from Camberley. I may well be checking in more detail in next week or so and if I do, I'll let you all know!!
They are also doing an "MOT" warranty up to 150K miles. Basically have your MOT done by dealer, and request they register you for the complementary MOT warranty which will pay for mechanical items which cause car to fail next MOT - for example a failing DRC/coily unit! Obviously doesn't cover wear items like tyres etc. Simples......

Re: Should I ???
Does the Audi warranty require inspection or is it just pay 2k and wait X-days for cover to start type thing?

Re: Should I ???
As Amar says - just pay and wait. However note that it is basically dependent on having a full Audi Service History, which is why they don't need to inspect.

Re: Should I ???
Thanks davep That would be great news if they extend it. Would certainly make me hang onto mine for a few more years....its all about the audi warranty.Daveperc wrote:Heard unofficially from Camberley. I may well be checking in more detail in next week or so and if I do, I'll let you all know!!

Re: Should I ???
Arse. So one specialist service (the last one where they discovered the audi fitted cambelt wasn't tight enough) will mean I can't get the warranty? Or do you think I can get it with inspection?Daveperc wrote:As Amar says - just pay and wait. Re: Should I ???
What do the other warranty companies do? If I was to service my (not bought yet) car will I invalidate the warranty?

I would check. Am sure they have relaxed rules slightly since they have introduced a new warranty pricing structure. I think DK or someother other knowledgable poster said you can take your car for a full inspection and so long as all issues fixed, they may do it?. Ring Rob Chorley (helpful chappy) at Camberly Audi - he should be albe to confrim 01276 606500 either way...
