Re: First day... First spot
I don't see another for months and months, then yesterday afternoon I see another black avant in the M4 services, and then arrive and park up at centreparcs longleat, look behind my car and there's another avant parked behind me with a roof rack bike mount the same as on mine

Ha! Small world, I haven't posted on here for years but still lurk. It is probably my grey avant here at longleat. I saw the silver saloon (with an RS04 plate?) plus there was a Mugello avant parked opposite us last night. It is our first time at Centre Parcs so good to see there are some quality people here rather than the overweight Chavs I was warned about!!
Re: First day... First spot
Yup, mine is the silver saloon rs04 plate and I walked past the mugello blue avant yesterday, think I prefer it to the silver. quite a gathering here then. My first time also, no overweight chavs spotted either, pleasantly surprised by the place so far.
Definately need a avant for the bike, was a mission squeezing it in mine!

Wow, small world... It's like a mini southwest region meet
Just to keep this off topic a little further, it's our first time at centreparcs too. It's a great place, but the booking system's a bit of a faff. Also the lack of chavs has been a pleasent surprise too
I was admiring the bike rack you've got on the grey avant, looks a lot neater than mine
My car's a black avant, reg F5 GMH
Have fun guys

Yes, re the booking system that is exactly what the wife and I thought. You have to be very organised which grates a bit on holiday. I guess that is why there is wifi everywhere which is a bonus.
The roof rack is one of the whispbar aero set ups which is very well designed. Only problem is that because it goes between the roof bars they are quite short. Can just about get 3 thule bike racks on them but it is a real squeeze. Going to have to go back to the Thule bars when my son's bike gets too big to fit in the boot. At least anyone looking at the roof bars won't notice the badly kerbed alloys, sacrilege I know but the price you pay for parking on the street (see didn't even blame the wife then...)
God knows what mpg I was getting on our way down from Kingston with 3 upright bikes on the roof. Hardly noticed the drag or noise but kept it below 90 so as not to scare the other road users. Still, saved £85 on not having to hire bikes...
Cheers and enjoy!
