Recomended remap and exhaust advice

Post by Sticks » Fri Mar 02, 2012 12:38 pm

Hi, I should be getting my rs3 next week and would like to get it remapped , I've been looking at the mtm route but thought I'd get some input , also if I update my exhaust to a milltek turbo/cat back will I wake the road up everytime I go out in my car , are all the exhaust upgrades really loud ? If so I'm gonna keep the original

I'm over in sunny Southend any help appreciated

Cheers
Coming soon the new Audi RS3.... see it attached to your rear bumper on the Motorway no matter how fast you go!

my B5 RS4 and S4 where MTM, both worked great

but the more i look into it the more i get confused lol

I am tempted by the revo map thou as you can reload the original one yourself or out on a granny mode map (they normally give away the box in the sales)

hard to judge the sound of an exhaust on YouTube but they all do sound pretty loud ;)

im going to shoot something like this when my go pro arrives next week :biggrin3:

im sure i read recently its illegal in the UK to fit an exhaust that's louder than the OEM one

i think i read somewhere someone was creating an aftermarket exhaust that worked with the loud button

Not strictly true, unless the OEM one is already on the legal limit.

Here's what I found:
The exhaust must record a decibel level not exceeding 101 db(A).

This level will be recorded at the height of the exhaust or 200mm from ground level which ever is greater, placed 500mm away from the exhaust outlet at a 45 degree angle to said outlet.

The engine will be run at a speed between two thirds and three quarters of it’s maximum to achieve the recording.

I went down the MRC route and the car is brilliant. Was tempted by exhaust, but BHP for £££ remap stacks up best. Maybe in the future I might Milltek something and get the map re-tweaked. 410 BHP VS 425 BHP with exhaust seems a pretty expensive 15 BHP. Then again you might want it to sound slightly racier........
