S4 avant stalling

Post by JMDS4 » Mon Feb 27, 2012 2:02 pm

I have recently brought an X reg s4 avant, on longer journeys after driving average speeds of 70-80 mph the engine seems to cut out wen slowing to approuch a roundabout or traffic lights, it occers wen I down shift a couple of gears or cost the clutch. If any1 has any ideas as to y this is happening I would appreciate hearing them. Cheers Josh

I dont know if this is any help but:

I had an A8 4.2 that did exactly the same thing. In the end I tracked it down to crud in the throttle body. The TB had a small stepper motor and sensor that minutely adjusted things at idle. The crud that had built up around the butterfly was confusing the snesor by not letting the butterfly close properly (were are talking points of a mm here). All i had to do was remove the TB (a pain in the arse on an A8) and give it a good clean with carb cleaner. After this it ran beautifully.

Only a suggestion, but hopefully it may help
