Newbie with RS4 (B7) Cab

Post by pseunomis » Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:09 am

Hi all,

Just checking in as a new owner and member.

I picked up the car last week and I have been having a whale of a time. In fact, the driving experience blows all of my previous cars out of the water (not bad, as they include a Dino, various E-Types and Cobras, a Ferrari 360, a Ferrari 550, a Boxster S, a Maser 3200, a 996 C2, a 997 C2S, and a DB9). I still have the 550, but I suspect it won't be seeing so much use now - and I am going to have to do something about its exhaust after getting the RS :)

The car also sounds mind-blowing, as it has a Milltek. Not sure which one, but suspect it is valveless because it terrifies small children in the normal mode and the sound doesn't change when I activate the sport mode.

[On the subject of the sport mode: the difference from normal seems pretty subtle. There is a slight increase in throttle response, but it is not obvious. I can't detect any change in the feel of the suspension. (This is very different from my 997, where the sport mode made it seem like having two different cars.) Not really too hung-up on this, as the drive is so good anyway, but it would be nice to know if there is possibly a problem. ]

As you can maybe tell from the above, I have the attention span of a three-year-old in a tractor shed when it comes to cars, so I do change them quite a bit. But this one has got under my skin, so i hope to stick around! (Actually, this last point is also dependent upon selling the 997, as SWMBO is currently looking slightly homicidal, but I am optimistic as it is a nice one.)

Cheers,
Simon

Think I have done it. Sort of. I managed to upload some pics to the gallery, where there is now an album in my username (I hope).

Pictures are a bit random - just what I have here at work. The only ones I still own are the 550 and the 997 - and the 997 is to be sold.

Will post some pictures of the RS4 when I have taken some :)

Thanks. Photobucket not working for me at the moment (possibly our firewall). Can you see them in my album in the gallery?

Like the colour of your car btw.

Welcome indeed. Some great cars there. I really like the Cobra 427 and the P5. (I always lusted after one of the 3.5l Coupes)

Thanks. The cobras were unfortunately kit cars, but still pretty wild. The P5 was a nice one, but I sold it when I hit 40, as I started feeling self-conscious about my age!
