RS6 Avant car might have to go - Herts area

Post by kwack » Wed Jan 04, 2012 5:07 pm

Shame really as I love it but apparently there is a car theft ring in the area and there has been some dodgy things recently to make my wife concerned. White van slowly reconnoiter the car in the drive, some strange man knocking on the door..

Anyways phoned the police and they confirmed that there was a car theft ring and that you are probably going to be burglared shortly to try and get the keys. With two kids I cant afford for any car jacking crap to happen its too risky...

So once gone will write up my experiences

Its been a fun 3 years having it

Cheers

Jesus, sorry to hear that... not a pleasant experience or thought to have. I used to always tell my wife if anyone went for the car, just hand the keys over, after all its only a piece of metal.

Hopefully they'll get the buggers and you can keep your motor and sleep in piece. I'd leave your keys downstairs in an clear position (out of sight from outside obviously) such that should the worst occur, then they'll have the keys without any grief as such.

I sopped someone on our street yesterday who was acting rather suspiciously near one of my neighbours house, I was polite and asked the gentleman if I could help him in any way; he was clearly taken aback and left the street straight away, hopefully never to return. Scum.

Buy a banger for £600; You'll save that much in fuel over that time, and having a POS on the drive will discourage theives :)

not being funny ... but why would they steal a 6/7/8 year old C5 worth £12k ?

really not being rude

but if your a criminal, and goin to risk breaking the law which if caught will result if years behind bars ... surely you would want the reward to be greater ?

I worry with a '61 TTRS and a '61 TT Black Edition outside the house ... but leave the keys in easy access as they are company cars

The RS6 makes an excelent getaway car. Different cars for different criminals.

Hehe. I was thinking that :) Put a sign on the car "For sale RS6 £4000 box broken and DRC leaking".

That should put them off ;)

Get some good cameras up so when the gits do come for it they get caught, in fact, the police should do this if they are telling you 'you are going to be burgaled' and loads of others in the area are being effected, it should at least help them track them down. DK, the C5 RS6 is probably still worth a fair bit in the countries it will probably end up in I'm guessing.

Do I assume that you garage is full of crap and you can't fit the car in? Out of sight is out of mind and reach...

Nice of the police though to tell you your going to be a victim of crime, proactive at least. Although in the wrong way as usual.

With respect to this dire situation there is no way on the planet I would more or less "allow" someone to steal my property regardless of what it was... and secondly I point blank refuse to be pushed or dictated into selling or moving away because I felt pressure from scum bags and thieving pikey twats! There is a big issue where I am ( out in the sticks) with oil theft so we are all on the look out all of the time. I have kids in the house as well yes and whilst of course they come first, should anyone try and break in or steal anything including my car they are getting the good news and both barrels! Ill do time I don't care. If they want to dance with the devil then bring it on!

I caught two chavs trying to steal my RS4 a couple of years back and although it cost me my trusty 9 iron shaft they wont be doing it again I promise you in a hurry! Police were quite cool about it to be fair! :smile_smoking: Gravel driveways and decent gates of course. Back it up with a dog (or vicious cat) plenty of outside and inside lights on, cctv if needed and can afford. I've got a catapult and a ceremonial sword on standby and now older golf clubs to hand if I need them. Of course get around the neighbors, make a plan to ensure you protect your own. Lets be honest there is no way that our poor old Police Force nowadays can do anything of any value before or after so what do we do let them have the upper hand? Never, protect what belongs to you in every sense. The other thing is if your car is stolen its worth nothing if found so hope it never comes back. Good luck with your problem but dont sell a car you love because scum bags dictate you should.
