RS6 C5 with PSS9s ride hight issue-help please.
Had my rs6 about 4 months, amazing car, MTM tuned to 541bhp and PSS9s all round. I need to raise the ride hight as it's too low for local roads, and tried to unlock the rings myself but would not budge. Local specialist tried but they struggled too and were concerned about breaking the rings, thus gave up. Have got the correct 'C' spanners but have run out of ideas. Any suggestions? They've been on the car for about 4 years.

Sounds like they haven't been greased when fitted and have seized after all that time. All you can do is copious and constant re-application of penetrating fluid (WD40, GT85 etc) and try a screwdriver or monkey grips and tapping the rings with a mallet.
Best of luck,
M.

I'm not being funny, but you do know there are 2 rings per strut? One to adjust and the other to lock. If you try to tighten up the locking nut against the adjuster nut then you'll not get very far. It's possible it they may look like one nut if they're dirty.

Yes, fair observation but you can see the 2 locking rings side by side on the strut. Tried light wire brushing and wd40 etc. Going to try putting C spanners on both rings and see if I can clamp them in position to apply opposing forces and at the same time apply more fluid. Wish me luck!

That should be standard procedure. Separate the platform ring from the locking ring, then set platform height, then re-lock with an application of copper grease.sennamen wrote:Going to try putting C spanners on both rings and see if I can clamp them in position to apply opposing forces...
Sorry if that's what you're already trying to do, I may have read it differently.
No matter where you go, there you are.
