DRC is going, KW coming in.....

Post by RS6-SteveV » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:45 pm

All,

Car was dropped off this morning at the garage to have the pox ridden crashy DRC system out and my shiney and new KW system is going in. I didn't go for ARB's at this stage as funding just didn't cover it but very excited none the less. Popped over at lunch time, fronts had been done and they were just about to tackle the rears!

Do you remember the first major mod and the start of the very slippery slope down?

Cheers

I know it's a cliché, but it will transform your car. Before getting my billies, I was daydreaming about getting an M3 because I just wasn't enjoying the car. Wouldn't touch one now.

And an M3 wouldn't touch yours now, not in a straight line anyway.

No, I still actually like M3 (the 6 cylinder ones) but I think I would be disappointed if I drove one now.

I'm on standard ARBs, and don't feel the need to uprate. I'm very happy with my billies.

I'm on stardard arb's but toying with the idea of upgrading due to alot of peoples comments on it being the best pound for performance mod

Then I'll be very interested to see what you think if you put some ARBs on. Before and after impressions.

I have the KWs and with hind sight I would go for the PSS9s, they are a real pain in the arse to adjust. I would suggest not setting them any harder than the default. I was on +2 harder rebound and it was pretty uncomfortable and had them wound back.

Been told they totally transform the car. Has anyone done them one at a time and which would you say makes the most difference?

I'd be very careful doing this as they are significantly different to the original so you will end up with a major change of handling at one end only.

If you really are going to do one end first then I would say you have to do rear first. The issue with the beast is turn-in understeer and this will be improved by stiffening the rear (and made worse if you do the front first).

Personally I think DRC and uprated ARB's are the way to go - you just need to go to Camberley to get DRC properly fitted! 50,000 miles since they fitted V3 to mine and absolutely rock solid.

The Hotchkis kit is the only kit specifically designed for the rs6 , When fitted to a standard car it'll transform the handling and i believe it'll keep the DRC working longer as it'll be under less stress ..
