Post by stuartbarriskell » Tue Jul 26, 2011 8:30 am

Hi, I bought a couple of these from a local store, They flicker slowly when lights are on and an error comes up on dash, anyone know where to buy the correct ones for my 56 plate Avant.

i have had mine done fella, and like said above, not a simple plug and play solution.even though some say so...saying that i really did not find it a problem sorting, brought the resistor and got a local car electrician to do it....turned out less aggro than keep buying supposed plug and play bulbs from different places....

I got a plug a play solution only cost me around 25 pounds...
The solution just replace the housing...
the housing just clips out so you just put in a new housing here the pics... done in 5min brings up no errors, and no need to install resistors

If they are the "racing dash" ones then they gave errors on my car, showing how tricky they can be

Dont think they the "racing dash" ones as I dont get an error what so ever, and have been running them for two weeks without any error...
I also tried multiple different solutions, luckily the guy I bought them from told me if they dont work can happily get my money back... He has a B7 DTM, so he has been testing numerous solutions on his car before he sold these...
will post a link ASAP on where to get them

I've been running a set of "Error Code Free" LED bulbs in my number plate lights and they have always thrown up an error, I really like the look
I'be been keen to give these a try, post a link please!

i have read loads of threads on this and it seems sometimes it works and some dont, not the bulbs the cars, so what might work on my car might not work on yours.

the only way is to fit a larger resistor and mount it behind the boot lining, either this or spend a load on different bulbs
