Bumper repair and detailing?

Post by Leodiensian » Mon May 23, 2011 12:50 pm

Hello all,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I bought a phantom black saloon in December. It's way overdue a detailing to bring out the shine (not sure I'd go for black again - hard to keep clean). However there is some damage to the rear bumper caused by the previous owner. There are scratches to each rear corner down to the plastic. Not too large and could almost certainly be repaired. There is also a dent where it looks like the car was reversed into something sharp. The plastic has been partially pierced and the ding is about the size of a 5p piece.

Does anyone know the cost of a replacement bumper (inc fitting and, presumably spraying)? Would you consider getting a bodyshop to fill the ding and then paint over? Doesn't sound like a very nice way to treat the car but if the replacement cost is high it may make more sense.

Finally could anyone recommend a detailer near Richmond, Surrey? It will need paint correction as it has lots of swirl marks and fine scratches (presumably as a result of the washing techniques used).

Thanks for any advice,

L

The auto-link on the word "detailing" is a bit cheeky!

Steve_70 is down your way (I think) - he's detailed quite a few forum members' cars.

I'm making a list of all the auto-links I spot and keeping that by my PC - so that I can enclose them in quotes and stop the auto-links working, as they just annoy me.
