advice needed : parking ticket

Post by HYFR » Tue Mar 15, 2011 10:31 am

Hi guys

I got a parking ticket on saturday, w@nkers

Only got round to looking at the ticket this morning

They have got the reg and colour wrong! Reg should start KP60 but they put KE60 ... And they put beige instead of brown!

Where do I stand re. Not paying the fine?

The thing is the w@nker took photos off the car?

Cheers

If it is a proper council issued ticket, and they have got the details all wrong then yes, you won't have to pay. irrespective of photo's. what I do not know is if they are able to re-issue you a new ticket on the strength of the photo ?

Have they written to your home address? If not, deny all knowledge of the ticket. Someone could've removed it from your screen anyway. Since they've got your registration wrong they won't be able to get your home address....

If they then refer to the picture for the reg and contact you then maybe appeal based on the mistake (was the warden sure considering they couldn't take down your reg? Were they confused with another car that was illegally parked when yours wasn't? etc). Or, worst case scenario just pay what the initial fine was.

Read this, smile :jump_clap: and then put your ticket in the bin.

The PCN is a a legal document and has to be correct, a digital photo can be manipulated, if it is not held on write once media and then kept in a chain of evidence type custody bag.

Is it not like a NiP where the slip rule applies?

I got a parking ticket a couple of years ago, they tried all sorts to intimidate me, weekly telephone calls and letters starting with reminders, to solicitors and debt collectors... they gave up after a year :)

ETA... oops, my ticket was of course from private cowboys.

One of our work vans got a parking ticket last year with the wrong reg number on. When we spoke to them about it they basically said they couldn't enforce it and ripped it up.

I wish they'd got my reg wrong. Picked up a ticket about a week ago.... very ambiguous sign but heh... I decided to pay the 35 quid just now anyway (on line).
Amazingly the on line system had 10 (yes TEN) different photos of my car in the illegal spot.

Car looked pretty cool though ;-)
