No naked flames.

Post by Audidoody » Mon Jan 17, 2011 6:57 pm

Hi and thanks for reading. I've a fuel leak when the B7 S4 Avant Auto is running which hits the floor drivers side near the rear and front door join. As if fuel isn't a) too expensive and b) drank too heavily already by the V8 it's decided to leak it (although very slightly).
I have also noticed the 3 times I've started it since I've noticed a petrol smell that that the engine turns over longer before starting.
No EML and no issues when driving.
Can anybody advise what could be in that spot which maybe leaking ? I've tried on the net to find the position of the fuel filter with no joy as the light was fading fast when i found the leak.
Any advise please ?

The fuel filter is there, position underneath the car, behind the plastic panel, so its probably dripping out and running down the panel before it hits the ground. The filter is only held by a small metal strap and a small nut and bolt, which are normally rusted solid and need snapping off and a new one fitted. The fuel lines are only on plastic snap fittings as well which can go brittle over time, but the age of B7s that should be fine

Thank you, I think the fuel filter would be the cheapest fix so it's a relief to know it's around where my leak is. I'll have to get it jacked up and get under there in the daylight.

My last filter was £7.42 from TPS, so cheap as chips

Part number 1j0201511a (for a B6 at least, B7 may be different, but I dont think it is)
