Get a vag com on it and see what the error code is. Could be the F125 switch. Have a read of this http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/ ... place.html

I had the same. Found that by switching the car off an then back on seemed to cure it but the TC was shagged!

i had the same issue, was getting worse when it was getting colder outside, replaced the f125 switch and now works great...

Not that easy to get it out, some parts has to be removed first.
The link to the audipages site is about replacing the f125 dwitch on a A8, so that is something different...

This fault code seems to be from the engine control unit, not from the tiptronic control unit. do you have access to a VAG-Com?

Could be caused by a seriously slipping brake in the box, too. Given the other symptoms (slipping and banging) I would lean towards a worn out box. But, definitely try to change the ATF first. Could be low which would give similar symptoms. Could be a sticky solenoid. Hope for best, plan for the worst.

I had something very similar - cant remember the fault codes though - simply turned out to be low oil level in gearbox due to an oil hose coming lose and leaking. Replaced oil and has been fine (touch wood) - I was very lucky!!!

I had all the light come on 6 months after buying. I went to Audi and they changed the oil. I was convinced after reading this forum my gearbox was gone but 2 1/2 years later and everything has been sweet. Got Grizz to change the oil for a second time 12 months after the first as a precaution.
