Rocker Cover Gasket

Post by pad125 » Mon Sep 13, 2010 1:57 pm

Just been informed by the dealer that the right hand rocker cover gasket is no longer available separately, you now have to order the rocker cover and gasket as a unit, cost.......£200

And the left hand cover will be going the same way when stocks run out of the gasket.

Isn't this the kind of thing manufacturers do when they are phasing out a product?

Since production of the RS4 stopped some time ago, it's already been "phased out".

I was under the impression that manufacturers were required to keep a supply of spare parts for 10 years?

I can't believe that personally as it also affects
A6
A6 Allroad
A8
S8
R8 which is still being made IIRC
Q7

Here are the part numbers for the gaskets alone (too late for me to make a call)

My point exactly, I'd be interested if you could check with your dealer if this is the case. Don't think that my dealer is doing anything untoward but just wonder if they are getting the right information.

Will check tomorrow.
Many of those cars don't have the red rocker covers that we have so there must be an alternative if only to buy one of their cheaper rocker cover + gasket sets just for the gasket.
The A6 with V8 doesn't seem to have the option of cover + our gasket in one, only individual parts are listed though my ETKA is a bit out of date

not available individually as the covers have been modified (presumably due to issues) so need to be replaced together

£310+VAT per side approx
